The long half- life of Tadalafil allow different alternative of treatment. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of Tadalafil in two dosing regimens: on demand or 3 times per week.
Material and Method: 121 males who consulted for ED were treated with Tadalafil 20 mg on demand or three times a week in according to personal and partners needs and preference. Normal level of testosterone was required. The evaluation was made using the International Index for Erectile Function (IIEF) before and after three months of treatment. We consider effective treatment when the IIEF was ³ to 26 points.
Results: 95 patients (78%) chosen the regimen on demand and 26 (22%) 3 times a week. The efficacy in the male group treated on demand was 84% and 88% in the group to take the pill 3 times per week . The adverse events (AE), spontaneously reported by the patients, were headache in 10.5%, only in the group on demand, and dyspepsia in 4% in on demand group and 15% in 3 times per week group.
Conclusion: Tadalafil is an effective and well tolerated treatment for ED, regardless used on demand or three times per week. Patients and partners should be given the option according to expectation and preferences.
